Watch Plex Ad-Supported Content on Android Without an Account

Plex is now making it easier than ever to enjoy free, ad-supported content on its platform.

While Plex accounts are free, with the 8.2.0 version of the Plex Android app, anyone can download the app and watch the ad-supported content on Plex without creating an account.

When someone without a Plex account opens the app, they’ll find a library of movie and TV titles that are free to stream. Those who want to create a free Plex account can tap a banner at the top of the screen when the app is open, but ignoring the message won’t affect the ability to watch content for free.

The Plex ad-supported content collection launched in December 2019 with thousands of titles spanning all genres. At launch, Keith Valory, CEO of Plex, said: “Plex was born out of a passion for media and entertainment, and offering free ad-supported premium movies and TV shows is just the latest step in our mission to bring all your favorite content together in one place. What started more than a decade ago as a passion project to make accessing media on connected devices easier has evolved into the most comprehensive streaming platform in the industry, used by millions of people around the world.”

Watching Plex content without an account is only available for Android users for now, but the feature will be coming to iOS devices soon.
