The Price of Google Chromecast Has Been Permanently Reduced

Google quietly reduced the price of Chromecast from $35 to $29.99 last week.

The price change comes as we’ve been learning more about the next generation of Google’s HDMI dongle with a new design and a possible updated UI for Android TV.

The latest update about the new device, given the codename Sabrina, shows more oval shape than the current Chromecast Ultra’s circular design. It also carries the understated “G” Google logo embossed on its face and a flexible, color-matched HDMI connector. The newest images so show what looks like an updated UI for Android TV. The design includes a bar with a search option, alongside sections called For You, Movies, TV, Live, Apps, and My Library.

While an official announcement about the next generation of the device hasn’t been made by Google yet, the price drop of this version could be a good sign that the new device will be announced soon.

You can find Google Chromecast for the new, lower price at the Google Store, along with retailers including Amazon and Best Buy.
