Sinclair Will Launch a Headline News Service for Affiliate Networks and STIRR

Sinclair Broadcast Group has announced plans to launch a headline news service early next year. Programming for the news service will air weekday mornings from 6am to 9am on Sinclair’s CW and MyNetwork TV affiliates along with the free streaming service STIRR.

The service will focus on news as it happens, with content coming from Sinclair’s network of local broadcast stations alongside original content.

“The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the demonstrations occurring across our country has reminded us of the important, invaluable role that local news plays in our communities,” said Chris Ripley, president and CEO of Sinclair. “Every national story has its roots in local communities and with this new platform, we will ensure that more voices and stories are elevated to the attention of viewers everywhere. This headline news service is part of our ongoing commitment to connect more viewers with more content everywhere.”

With a network of on-the-ground resources, the news program will offer comprehensive coverage of top stories. Audiences will get highlights happening at the moment as well as commentary on current events.
