Netflix’s ‘Ginny & Georgia’ Leads Nielsen’s Top 10 Streaming Rankings

Nielsen’s results are in for the top 10 streaming titles the week ending March 14, and Ginny & Georgia once again claimed the No.1 spot on the chart, even beating out fellow Netflix Original The Crown and Disney+’s WandaVision.

The coming of age series Ginny & Georgia had a total of 722 million viewing minutes, which was down from the previous week’s 1,161 million across the season’s 10 episodes. The Crown pulled in 449 million minutes across its 40 episodes, while viewers spent 388 million minutes streaming WandaVision. Netflix’s Murder Among the Mormons and Behind Her Eyes rounded out the top five.

As for licensed streaming TV shows, Criminal Minds and Grey’s Anatomy lead the pack each drawing in more than 600 million minutes. And Netflix users are still playing Cocomelon on repeat for toddlers everywhere as evidenced by the cartoon series’ steady placement on the chart week after week.

Amazon Prime Video secured its second-ever top spot on the list with Eddie Murphy’s Coming 2 America reaching No.1 in the movies category. The sequel had 770 Million minutes of viewing time, down from the previous week’s 1,413 million. Netflix came in second with the Jennifer Garnerstarring Yes Day, and DIsney+ pulled off No. 3 with Raya and the Last Dragon.

Streaming time was down overall that week across all the platforms in Nielsen’s measurement reach, something Nielsen’s SVP of Product Strategy Brian Fuhrer attributes to two things.

“One, the return of March Madness, a lot of people going back, a lot of pent-up demand because the tournament didn’t occur last year, people are going back and watching that,” Fuhrer said. “And fragmentation of the stream-isphere. You think about what’s happening with the introduction of Paramount+, the introduction of Discovery+, people are sampling these new offerings and we think that’s also having an impact.”
