Disney’s latest live action film of 2021 is a new twist on the fashion and fur-loving villain Cruella de Vill from 101 Dalmations. Only this time, the storyline is set in punk-era 1970s London and shows Cruella’s origin story, pre-dognapping days. The film stars Oscar winner Emma Stone as the black and white haired villainess, with Emma Thompson and more in the cast list.
Cruella will premiere on May 28th in both theaters and for home viewing on Disney+. However, subscribers will need to purchase Premier Access for the film since it’s not included in a regular subscription. Premier Access is $29.99 and gives viewers access to the film months ahead of when it will be released on VOD. The one-time fee of 30 bucks is well worth it since a few movie tickets to the theater would cost just as much.
While Cruella premieres this Friday, preorders are already happening on Disney+. If you’re a current subscriber, you can sign up for Premier Access to the film so it’s ready and waiting in your account the moment it’s released. Don’t have a Disney+ account yet? You can sign up here.
Disney+ introduced its Premier Access feature at the end of last summer, months deep into the pandemic. The live-action reimagining of Mulan at the end of last summer was the first film to utilize the paywall feature, followed by Raya and the Last Dragon earlier this spring.
