Frndly TV Surpasses 440,000 Subscribers

Frndly TV, the family friendly streaming service, ended 2020 with 440,000 subscribers. 200,000 of those customers were added in Q4 2020 alone.

The streaming service announced earlier today that it will be adding the Dove Channel to its lineup, bringing the channel count to 16. In addition to Dove Channel, Frndly offers Hallmark Channels, Inspiration, UpTV, Game Show Network, Curiosity Stream, The Weather Channel, Outdoor Channel, BYU TV, World Fishing Network, Sportsman Channel, Pixl, Baby First, and QVC.

Starting at just $5.99 per month, the bundle service will not be raising its price with the addition of the new channel.

Frndly TV has taken a much simpler approach to streaming than other live TV streaming services like YouTube TV and Hulu, as Frndly TV’s founders Bassil El-Khatib, Michael McKenna, Mike McClain, and Andy Karofsky explained to Broadcasting & Cable. The larger services are in constant competition to offer more channels and exclusive programming, which comes with a higher price tag, leading to occasional price hikes for customers.

Frndly TV focuses on family friendly content, including some channels that are less widely available but have dedicated viewers, like the Dove Channel. For those who are looking for that family friendly content, the service is a good value, providing a bundle of channels that offers a better value than subscribing to two or more of the channels individually. Not only does that give customers a good deal, being very deliberate about which channels Frndly TV offers allows the service to be profitable. “Our plan is we know what our price point is,” McClain told Broadcasting & Cable. “Our packages are designed so that we have a healthy gross margin.”

You can sign up for Frndly TV for $5.99/month for the Basic package or $7.99-9.99/month for HD quality, additional simultaneous streams, and DVR.
