Flyers are an easy way to spread information quickly. Even in the digital age that we live in today where you may think email is the way forward to spread information, leaflets are as popular as ever. To put it simply the printed word tends to have more credibility.
Flyers are an excellent marketing tool to raise aware of a brand, a product, a charity, a call to demonstrate, anything where you would like to raise awareness.
Flyers are very versatile and a cheap form of advertising when compared to other marketing methods. It can be very easy to design your own leaflets if you follow some simple guidelines..
Flyer distribution is one of the few ways both multi-national companies and small local businesses can use to market their business. Why do you think it is used across the board with totally different types of businesses? Because it works!!! And it is comparable to other marketing methods.
Now I would never recommend using one method of marketing as a mixture of different marketing methods always yield the best results. But flyers can be an integral part of your marketing mix.
What other marketing medium is as cheap as flyer distribution, flexible in its approach and gives almost immediate results?
Obviously you must approach a flyer distribution with a bit of thought and planning to make it a success.
There are a number of factors to consider, the aim of your campaign, design of your flyer, distribution method, targeting which groups. All of these must be thought out first before going forward with leaflet marketing.
Flyer marketing does get a raw deal at times and is often seen as the ‘poor mans’ alternative to a ‘proper marketing campaign’. It is often seen as not being reliable and flyer simply being thrown away. This is simply not true as there are a large number of highly respected leaflet distributors out there, who run a professional service.
Delivering flyers are not just for fast food establishments. Consider the types of flyers you have received recently. Do you look at them? Most of us do glance at a flyer and if there is something of interest we keep the flyer for a longer period.
Look at the recent swine epidemic sweeping the world. In the UK, How did the government get its message across?
They used a variety of different methods as part of their ‘marketing mix’ including television, press and radio advertising. They also use flyers that were hand delivered to your home to get the message across about swine flu.
During the 2010 UK general elections, all political parties used flyers marketing part of their strategy to get their message across. This confirms the point that was made earlier regarding the printed word carrying more credibility.
So in summary, flyers are an excellent way to increase brand awareness for your business, especially when used with other marketing methods. And is not just the domain of fast food outlets anymore.
