Online Auctions – EBay Australia is Facing 4 Big Competitors

Australia has very high number eBay users. EBay is the name that nearly associate with online auctions. But in recent years, more and more players have entered the arena, adding not only choice, but several variations to the original model.

The recent unpopular changes to some of eBay’s operating policies such as changes to the feedback system and moves to introduce Paypal-only payments from June, could mean these other auction sites will see an increase in business as disaffected users turn to other online operators.

Some alternative types of auctions include reverse auction, where the lowest unique bid wins the item, and auctions conducted on the internet by traditional live auction marketplace means that you can buy almost anything at an online auction from large items to tiny things. The increasing popularity of these online auction sites is a big competition to eBay and its’ operating system.

  • www.oztion.com.au unlike eBay, which has a global network, Oztion is a homegrown online auction site that started operating in 2005. From very small beginnings, it has grown and thrived to the point, where it considers itself to be the 2nd largest online auction website Australia.
  • http://aussiebid.com.au You will find lots of goods listed in a wide range of categories. The site operates a feedback system, Safe buy Program, online auction, forums and discussion boards and has a free listing option.
  • www.bidsell.com.au/cgi-bin/auction Bidsell is an auction site where individuals and businesses can list items for auction or instant purchase. The site has a range of features including a feedback system, a bulk listing tool, user verification and free listing option.
  • www.auctionbidz.com.au Auctionbidz offers a free service to sellers, there is no listing fees and no sale value fees, It also give you ten dollar credit just for signing up.
From all these online auction sites, one of the highlights to attract sellers is the free listing policy. Yes, this is very attractive compare to all fees from eBay listing fee to final value fee plus Paypal service fee which is compulsive from June 2008. However, eBay is still the ‘biggie’ of the online auction sites and you no doubt know someone who has either bought or sold via eBay. eBay still has nearly most of the online auction users. it is however a good news for the users with more and more competition in the online auction market to enjoy much fairer and better service.
